You’ll find the recipe below, as well as an overview of the ingredients and why they’re good for your skin.

What You’ll Need (this makes 1 smoothie)

  • ½ cup of coconut water (buko juice)
  • 2 frozen bananas (sliced)
  • 1 cup chopped pineapples (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 cup chopped mangoes (frozen or fresh)
  • 2 cups of spinach or kale
  • ½ of an avocado (sliced)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon ground flax or flaxseed oil

Instructions

Put the coconut water (buko juice), sliced bananas, chopped pineapples, chopped mangoes, kale or spinach, and avocado into your blender. Blend until smooth. Feel free to add more buko juice if you find that the consistency is too thick for your liking.

Ingredients

Buko juice: Buko juice is widely popular for the go-to when you’re dehydrated, but did you know that it also contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties? That means that besides keeping your skin moisturized, it can also soothe irritated skin.

Banana: While we’ve already mentioned some skin benefits that are derived from bananas, the list goes on. Bananas have anti-aging properties, so they can help fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce age spots.

Pineapple: Pineapples are rich in bacteria-fighting antioxidants to reduce inflammation and combat acne. Aside from being natural exfoliants, pineapples also contain anti-aging and skin-lightening properties.

Mango: Mangoes are abundant in minerals and antioxidants including Vitamin B6 (controls oil production) and beta-carotene (protects the skin against bacteria and other toxins).

Spinach: Spinach can reduce skin inflammation and help with skin breakouts. Containing Vitamin C and Vitamin K, spinach can repair damaged skin caused by UV rays and reduce the appearance of scars and spots.

Avocado: Full of fatty acids, avocados are very nourishing on the skin and keep it feeling supple. Avocados are also rich in antioxidants like carotenoids, which can reduce signs of aging.

  • A handful of frozen grapes
  • A handful of spinach
  • ½ of a banana (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter or almond butter

Ingredients

Almond milk: Almond milk is high in skin-soothing Vitamin E, so it’s beneficial for skin that’s been damaged by the sun or skin that’s prone to breakouts. It’s also packed with essential vitamins and minerals like zinc and magnesium, giving your skin a natural glow.

Grapes: Grapes are full of powerhouse vitamins and nutrients like antioxidant-rich Vitamin C. These can help improve the skin’s elasticity and blood circulation, resulting in youthful-looking skin with a healthy glow.

Spinach: Spinach is rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which help even out the skin tone and boost collagen production. Spinach also has a high water content, so it provides extra hydration to the skin and improves the complexion.

Banana: Bananas are known to be rich in potassium, which is ideal for moisturizing dehydrated or dry skin. It also contains acne-fighting zinc, skin-nourishing amino acids, collagen-boosting Vitamin C, and anti-aging Vitamin E.

Peanut butter or almond butter: Whether you opt for peanut butter or almond butter, your skin will reap a ton of benefits! Peanut butter contains Vitamin E, which reduces damage caused by free radicals such as lifestyle and environmental aggressors. Meanwhile, almond butter has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can even out the skin tone and soothe problem skin.
